2.5 /5 stars
This is more of a rant than a review. I have never imagined that I would be giving a Hunger Games book 2.5⭐️, but here I am. Well, to be honest, this is more like a 1.5⭐️, but I did read the whole 518 fucking pages of it, so that second star is for me. . My review can be summarized in one question - WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THIS BOOK? Because, I honestly don’t know. I had to skim the last 80 pages I was so bored. If this book didn’t exist - nothing would change for the original (wonderful wonderful trilogy)! Did Suzanne Collins even write it??? Because, I’m almost doubting it by now. Also, what is with ALL THE SINGING?? Okay, I know the name of the book is “the ballad...” but I didn’t know it would be meant quite literally. If I wanted to read a musical, well - I wouldn’t! . Characters - BORING. Plot - NONEXISTENT. Writing - well, writing was pretty good. Also, the names in this book - Cookie, Smiley, Highbottom - WHAT?? The Prologue was AMAZING though. It literally tells you everything you need to know about Snow. A masterpiece of a chapter! . My saltiness aside, if you read this and enjoyed it - good for you. I’m just pissed that I wasted my time on it. And that my HIGH expectations for it have crumpled to the bottom of the deepest sea. Hunger Games prequel who?? Never heard of it. .
